Creating a welcoming and accessible environment on college campuses is essential for all students to thrive. If you are a college student passionate about inclusion and accessibility, here is an opportunity to make a real difference. Our Campus Ambassador Program focuses on hosting sensory-inclusive and accessible events tailored for disabled students. This program offers you the chance to develop valuable skills, share your experiences, and connect with a supportive community, all while making your campus a more inclusive place!

What the Campus Ambassador Program Offers
This program is designed to equip you with the tools and confidence to host events that welcome everyone, especially students with disabilities. After a short 15 to 30-minute Zoom or Google Meet call with me, you will be invited to join a training session. This training covers:
How to organize sensory-inclusive events on your campus
Ways to co-host or lead online events for The Paced Scholar, such as art and chronic pain chats
The program is flexible with no ongoing commitment required. You can participate as much or as little as your schedule allows.
Additionally, we offer the following perks for Campus Ambassadors:
Opportunities to submit your writing, personal stories, or videos about your experience as a disabled college student
Access to discounts on products designed to support disabled students
Personalized letters of reccomendation and references for our top scholars from founder and disability advocacy, Samantha Kilburn
A certificate to add to your resume or LinkedIn
Who Can Join
To be part of this program, you need to meet a few simple requirements:
Be 18 years or older
Be a college student enrolled in at least one credit, whether at a community college, university, or graduate school
Reside in the United States
These criteria ensure that the program supports students who can actively engage with their campus communities.
Why Sensory-Inclusive and Accessible Events Matter
Many college events overlook the needs of disabled students, especially those with sensory sensitivities. Loud noises, bright lights, or crowded spaces can make participation difficult or impossible. Sensory-inclusive events create environments where everyone feels comfortable and included. This means:
Adjusting lighting and sound levels
Providing quiet spaces or breaks
Offering clear signage and accessible venues
By hosting these events, you help break down barriers and foster a campus culture that values diversity and inclusion.
How the Training Prepares You
The training you receive will cover practical skills and knowledge, including:
Understanding sensory sensitivities and accessibility needs
Planning and promoting events that accommodate diverse participants
This training not only benefits your campus but also helps you build leadership and communication skills valuable in any career.
Sharing Your Story with The Paced Scholar
Your voice matters. As a campus ambassador, you can contribute your personal experiences through writing, videos, or other creative formats. Sharing your journey as a disabled college student helps others feel seen and understood. It also raises awareness about the challenges and successes faced by disabled students in higher education.
